Rapper Appears On Track With Cancer-Stricken Teen

Rapper Mac Miller has recorded with a local Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania fan who is suffering from T-cell lymphoma.18-year old Bobby Stewart met mac in December after the rapper donated $50,000 to the Make A Wish Foundation. The two collaborated on a new track at ID Labs.

“To be with Mac is a blessing. He’s lyrically amazing,” said Stewart. “Hip hop is my passion. So to be able to be with Mac Miller, who’s a Pittsburgh legend… Wiz Khalifa shoutout.”

“Feeling like your music really does something for the world makes it all worth it, no matter what,” added Mac. “From now on, no matter what happens for the rest of my life, no one can take that away from me.”

In a recent interview, Atlanta hip hop star Killer Mike discussed his image as a political rapper. While acknowledging that he is politically-minded, Mike also made it clear that it’s wrong to push artists into a box.

“If I go all the way politicized, I become a zealot who’s not allowed to have fun with the people and the community that raised me,” he says. “But if I go the other way, I become an ignoramus who isn’t properly qualified to speak on my community’s behalf.”

“Me and my girl go to the kids’ school on Friday, then we go to the strip club Saturday night, and then we wake up and go to church Sunday morning, and we’re back to business on Monday,” he explained. “That’s my real life. At the end of the day, I’m a big black country motherf**ker! All of that’s gonna come with me.”

“I can’t be all Public Enemy and not embrace my 2 Live Crew,” he said. “You’ll always see me at a political rally and the black strip club; I’m gonna represent smoking weed and I’m gonna represent supporting Trayvon Martin on my record, because I’m a whole man.”

No Limit Records founder Master P shared his perspective on former label star Mystikal joining No Limit’s former rival label, Cash Money Records. P says that Mystikal made the smart move and he applauds him for it.

“I think it’s good because of the timing,” Master P said. “We just starting to get back into this business and Mystikal, I thought that was more like a money thing, you know what I’m saying? Cash Money hot right now. It’s always been a friendly competition with us, but at the end of the day, I salute him. He gotta do what he gotta do for his family. But with us, we after something bigger, we don’t mind waiting it out. We gon’ starve together, we gon’ eat together and I think that’s what it’s about with us. We still building our thing so when he first got out of jail, he needed something to get himself back out there. Right now we in a rebuilding process. So I salute Mystikal. We gon’ always do records, he always gon’ be in my heart, but also I gotta let him be a man and do what he gotta do and that’s what he doing.”

Estate Is In Opposition To Movie

The Jimi Hendrix estate has reportedly not endorsed the biopic about the late rocker starring rapper/actor Andre 3000. While the project is slated to begin shooting in Ireland, The estate issued a statement saying it is not on board with the film.

“[The estate] has made it known many times in the past that no such film, were it to include original music or copyrights created by Jimi Hendrix, can be undertaken without its full participation,” the statement reads.

“Experience Hendrix CEO Janie Hendrix, sister of Jimi Hendrix, and the EH board have not ruled out a ‘biopic’ in the future though producing partners would, out of necessity, have to involve the company from the inception of any such film project if it is to include original Jimi Hendrix music or compositions,” it said.

Troubled rapper Trevell “G. Dep” Coleman has been sentenced to 15 years in prison for a murder committed in 1993. G. Dep turned himself in to the police in late 2010 for his role in a 1993 robbery that led to a man being shot; but the former Bad Boy Records star allegedly didn’t know that the victim, John Henkel, died from the shooting.

While sentencing G. Dep, the judge praised the fact that he came forward.

“The circumstance of your being before the court now suggests to me a maturity and decency that wouldn’t have been evident at the time,” said Manhattan Supreme Court Justice Michael Obus. “It was the right thing to do, even though it landed you in the position you find yourself in now.”

The authorities matched G. Deps’ confession to the murder of Henkel; and the rapper’s defense attorney, Anthony Ricco, says that he hopes G. Dep finds piece in how things played out.

“My hope is that Trevell never wavers from his decision,” he said. “Fifteen years is a long time. Fifteen years in the penitentiary for putting yourself there is an even longer time.”

DMX’s comeback will be official on June 26th, which has been announced as the anticipated release date for the rapper’s Undisputed album. The project marks DMX’s return to studio recording after an almost decade-long hiatus due to prison and drug abuse issues.

Nonetheless, X’s publicist says the album will not disappoint.

“X is very excited to release this project,” DMX’s publicist, Domenick Nati told AllHipHop. “This album has a lot of hits on it, and his fans will see that it’s been worth the wait. Undisputed will prove to the world that DMX is back!”

The album’s next single will also reportedly include an appearance from deceased rap legend, Notorious B.I.G.

New York Times columnist Phil Mushnick has come under fire for his current piece blasting the Brooklyn Nets and their association with rapper/businessman Jay-Z. Jay is a part owner of the NBA franchise, and Mushnick criticizes all parties in his “Equal Time” column, in what is being deemed a racially-insensitive and inflammatory piece.

“As long as the Nets are allowing Jay-Z to call their marketing shots—what a shock that he chose black and white as the new team colors to stress, as the Nets explained, their new ‘urban’ home—why not have him apply the full Jay-Z treatment?” he writes. “Why the Brooklyn Nets when they can be the New York N——s? The cheerleaders could be the Brooklyn B—-hes or Hoes. Team logo? A 9 mm with hollow-tip shell casings strewn beneath. Wanna be Jay-Z hip? Then go all the way!”

Mushnick has already experienced something of a backlash on Twitter. “This Phil Mushnick Take on Nets/Jay-Z is remarkably ignorant,” wrote Sports Illustrated’s Andy Glockner. ?uestlove of the Roots and sportswriter Bomani Jones also blasted Mushnick.

Omarion Joins Label, Rick Ross Plans Clothing Line

Maybach Music Group held a press conference in New York today to announce several new ventures. Diddy, Lyor cohen, Steve Bartels and Todd Moscowitz and Swizz Beatz were all on-hand for the event. The presser opened with a short MMG-themed film and the label outlined what the rest of 2012 will look like as well as revealed that RB star Omarion had officially joined the fold.

The highly-anticipated compilation Self Made Vol. 2 is due on June 26th, Rick Ross’ God Firgives… is due to drop on July 31st and an August 28th release date for Meek Mill’s debut Dreams Nightmares.

Lyor Cohen took the time to praise Ross’ vision.

“When I got a chance to meet him, I saw someone that was going to be undeterred in achieving the success that he has,” said Cohen. “He’s not satisfied. There’s no stopping him. I’m so grateful that I’m associated with him and that the Warner Bros. label is associated with him. The possibilities that Rick and Maybach Music are going to bring is going to be, in my mind, unprecedented.”

Swizz explained what he and Ross have planned for their planned big and tall clothing line.

“He’s going to lead the big and tall movement,” said Swizz. “There’s a limit with clothes that stops at a certain point. With Ross, everything has to be custom made. [...] I felt that instead of just doing a regular sneaker, we give Ross his own big and tall line.”

“A lot of people have been wondering what’s up with Omarion? Is his career over?” said Omarion. “I’ve never been a fan of popular opinion, but from now on, when you see me, understand that it’s Maybach Music.”

The new Brooklyn Nets’ logo has been revealed. The NBA franchise, which is partly owned by hip hop mogul Jay-Z, will be moving from New Jersey. Beginning next season, the team will begin play at the state-of-the-art Barclay Center and the new logo is part of the team’s reinvention.

Jay-Z reportedly designed the logo himself.

“Today, we launch the next chapter. Boy, this feels good. We’ve been waiting seven years to get to this point,” said CEO of Nets Basketball Brett Yormark.

The new merchandise has already gone on sale.

Rappers Debut ”Empire” ”Blackjack”

Jay-Z has announced that he will be launching his own Facebook gaming app. The hip hop mogul’s upcoming game, Empire, is in the beta testing stages. The game is reminiscent of the popular Sims franchise and allows users to create their own empires; working their way up from “hustler, to entrepreneur to business mogul.”

In related news, rapper 50 Cent has also launched his Facebook game, called 50 Cent’s Blackjack.
